On the Path to Priesthood

SMA seminarian Dermot Roache made his first oath of temporary commitment to the Society of African Missions on May 16, 2004 at SMA Provincial Headquarters in Tenafly, New Jersey. Friends and family gathered for the noon Mass at St. Anthony’s Chapel here, concelebrated by SMA fathers of the American Province.

Following the homily of the Mass, preached by the main celebrant, Fr. Thomas Wright, SMA Provincial Superior, Fr. Tom administered the oath to Dermot. “Welcome to SMA,” said Fr. Tom whose inspiring remarks told Dermot he was “a blessing to the Society.” The moment was greeting with enthusiastic applause from the assembly. A reception in the SMA Main Hall followed the Mass.
