Since
SMA's earliest days in Africa, lay men and women have worked alongside
priest missionaries, sharing their gifts and their love in service
to the Gospel of Christ and for the people of Africa. The special
calling of SMA is to serve "the most abandoned" wherever we are
sent.
SMA ministries are diverse, using our gifts to respond
to the specific needs of the local Church. Our lay missionaries
serve in education, healthcare, community development, religious
education, refugee assistance, administration, computer training, music
and the arts, and more. They work in Africa's rural areas and
large cities. All talents and skills are needed and useful. SMA
lay missionaries also live in the spirit of prayerful community
as they strive to live the Gospel in their daily lives.
