Cape Palmas Diocese: SMA priests

Gbarnga Diocese: SMA priests and a lay missionary.

SMA Assistance to the Liberian Church: From the beginning of the American Province, SMA has been closely connected to the development of the Church in Liberia. It continues to assist the three Liberian Dioceses of Monrovia, Gbarnga and Cape Palmas in their ministries during this difficult time.

Kambou's Angels (Pleebo) - Originally established in Tabou, Ivory Coast, for the Liberian street children (refugees of the civil war in Liberia), Kambou's Angels became a Kambou’s Angels missionCenter where children lived, worked, played, and regained the values of their culture. When the refugees returned home to Liberia, Kambou's Angels became a day program for at-risk youth where they received love, support, spiritual guidance, and skills training.

The children learn a craft and small business management so they can become self-supporting. They attend a school that helps prepare them to enter regular school. Even during the exile of August 2003, the program continued to serve the needs of the children in the refugee camps of Ivory Coast. As life improves in Liberia, Kambou's Angels will resume full service.

There are many valuable and needed former ministries where SMA. has worked for many years and which may resume full service as the situation in Liberia calms.

  • Bonike Leprosy Center (Pleebo ) - Bonike is home to 87
residents: 22 leprosy patients and their families. The needs are great.
  • Barnersville Parish and School - SMA missionaries offer
    financial assistance
  • Support for Medical work - Missionaries assist with financial
resources to the Liberian staff who provide medical services.
